Jump Starting the Next Chapter :D

Leaving Minnesota and returning to WA state to live with my parent's was disheartening. 4 years with Aramark and a fast-track rating in my management training program seemed like a path to an easy transfer; but, that wasn't the case. Thanks to a friend I worked with at WWU, I was able to get my resume in the hands of a District Manager in the Refreshments branch up in Tukwila, WA and within a few weeks I was starting a new role.

Instead of being an Assistant Food Service Manager, I am now a Route Sales Representative.

Aramark Refreshments provides coffee, filtered water/ice and vending products to offices. Basically anything that belongs in an office break room (paper products, utensils, sugar, etc.) we deliver. In my role I am assigned to take products from the warehouse directly to our clients. I have yet to personally drive anywhere but the vehicle I'm assigned to is around 20' long and weighs over 10,000 lbs. My biggest fear so far is having to navigate that land barge through the busy streets of Seattle and Bellevue. As you can tell from the first picture in this post, I go far into the hustle and bustle of the cities I visit. Thankfully I won't be expected to drive for another few weeks!

Another positive start of this week is that I finally received my GPS Sport Watch and heart rate monitor restarting my workout routine after a month break. Pairing my Garmin Vivoactive watch with the heart-rate band provides me with comprehensive workout stats. Seeing stats like average heart rate and speed is a major motivation to get outdoors and be active. The watch can even keep track of swimming and bicylce workouts so I look forward to testing those features out. Here is to another great year of fitness and health!

Finally I am falling back into a routine and things are leveling out for me. Fingers crossed that in a month's time I will be comfortable and confident in my new job. One thing I keep being reminded of daily is that the Pacific Northwest is a gorgeous place to be. I'm thankful to be surrounded by my parent's and siblings too which is a nice change from last year. Everything happens for a reason :D
